Privacy policy

Tales of Your Tail is run by Mr R Shriegal in London, UK ("we", "us"). We're responsible for the personal information you give us on talesofyourtail.uk. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.

What we collect

Your account: your name, email address and password (we never see your password itself; it's stored scrambled).
Your pet's photo, the cartoon we make from it, your answers to the story questions, and the stories and pictures we create.
Purchases: what you bought and when. Card details are handled by our payment provider and never reach us.
Messages you send us through the contact form.
If you join our email list, your email address and where on the site you signed up.
Basic visit statistics, such as which pages are viewed and roughly where visitors are from.

Why we use it

To make your cartoon and story and keep them in your account (to provide the service you asked for).
To take payments and keep records the law requires (legal obligation).
To send emails about your account and purchases, such as "your story is ready" and password resets.
To answer your messages.
To understand how the site is used and keep it working and secure (our legitimate interests).
To send you news and offers, only if you joined our email list. You can leave the list at any time.

Who helps us

We use trusted providers to run the site. They only use your information to provide their service to us:

Lovable, for website hosting, accounts, data storage and email sending.
Artificial intelligence services, reached through Lovable, which draw the cartoon and pictures from your pet's photo and write the story text.
Stripe and Link, which process payments. Link sells your purchase to you on our behalf and handles VAT, so it also keeps payment records under its own privacy policy.

Some of these providers may process information outside the UK, with safeguards required by UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

We keep your account, photos and stories while you have an account, so you can come back to your stories. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete them within 30 days. We keep payment records for 6 years, as UK tax law requires.

Story links

Each story has its own private link. Anyone you share that link with can read the story's unlocked pages, so only share it with people you're happy to see it.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it for a particular purpose. To do any of this, contact us or email help@talesofyourtail.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Cookies

We only use the storage your browser needs to keep you signed in and for checkout to work. We don't use advertising cookies.
